PES Faculty & Staff Sunshine Committee
Please join us in supporting each other
The Pocopson Faculty and Staff came together in the middle of the pandemic to give back to and support one another in a difficult time for all of us. They created a group called The Sunshine Committee. Teachers and staff members each donated their own money to fund weekly snacks and to help community members in need.
After discussing a recent need in the PES community, the Sunshine Committee contacted the PES PTO to invite Pocopson families to also give to a specific cause. That is a cause near and dear to many of our hearts, helping one of our head custodians, Sharon Towber. Sharon was hit hard by Hurricane Ida and is also dealing with health issues.
Sharon's home was badly damaged by Hurricane Ida; much of her first floor was flooded and thus, a great deal of her furniture, home goods, and food were all destroyed. Her family is helping her to rebuild, but she needs our help as well! In addition to living through the mess of Hurricane Ida, Sharon was recently diagnosed with a second bout of cancer and is going through chemotherapy treatments. Any support that we can show Sharon during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated!
Sharon is in need of gift cards to mainly Giant and Walmart. If you would like to purchase one for her, please send it in with your child to school.
If you prefer to donate to a fund for Mrs. Towber, we will give this money to Sharon for her to help cover her home and medical expenses.
